6:05am | Morning Chores | SAVE WATER @Washroom: While using water closet, always be conscious about these two aspect of the use: 1. If the purpose is urination alone, then use half-flush only. That is more than enough! 2. For the ‘other purpose’ you me employ full-flush..:) Every flushing requires some 4 Liters of water (usually potable/municipal/drinkable water is served in Indian washrooms!) @Brushing: Many of us are so tempted to just keep the taps open throughout our brushing time! It’s mostly an involuntary, unconscious action. Awake! Close it honey. It’s someone else’s precious drinkable water that you are simple wasting. @Bathing: In the strictest Green sense, it is advisable to avoid shower and use the good old bucket & mug method for bathing; because a shower waste much more water. But a forceful cool shower is a luxury we all indulge in and is not willing to part with! So let’s take a shower..:) But apply commonsense and be judicial with your shower. Don’t waste any water and close the shower whenever you take a break for applying oil, shampoo, conditioner, soap etc. SAVE ELECTRICITY @Mobile Charging: In case you were charging your mobile and the mobile is now full of charge, be sure to SWITCH OFF or unplug the charging unit from the socket; because even in idle mode, any charging unit DO mugs up some electricity! WASTE MANAGEMENT: It is an advisable practice to segregate your waste and collect them in different collecting bins. But since our municipal/corporate/whatever waste management system is still in those pre-historic ages of just dumping everything into a single landfill site, your efforts might not be of any practical success in the end. Still I shall advice you to do your bit and segregate & collect your wastes. Who knows! One day suddenly the babu’s will turn Green (not with envy for a change..:) and will organize a proper waste management system, which is already long long due! |
